This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for guiding a dedicated team while ensuring the reliability, safety, and long-term sustainability of the City’s infrastructure. The department includes: • Four full-time staff and two part-time (plus seasonal part-time support) • 20 miles of water main, 17 miles of sanitary sewer, and 13 miles of storm sewer • Four lift stations, 17 miles of roads, parks, facilities, and a cemetery • Support from various City departments Key Responsibilities • Lead and supervise Public Works staff and daily operations • Plan and oversee infrastructure projects and capital improvements • Prepare and manage departmental budgets • Ensure compliance with EGLE, EPA, MDOT, and other regulations • Coordinate with engineers, community members, contractors, and developers • Oversee water and sewer systems, roads, and city facility operations • Prepare reports, specifications, and bid documents • Advise the City Manager and City Council on infrastructure needs • Prepare and present information to City Council, boards, community members, and other organizations • Respond to emergencies and support after-hours operations as needed What We’re Looking For We’re looking for a leader who is: • Professionalism • Solution-focused and capable of managing complex infrastructure challenges • Skilled at balancing field operations with administrative responsibilities • A strong and effective communicator who can work with staff, elected officials, and community members • Forward-thinking with a focus on efficiency, technology, and long-term planning Preferred Qualifications How to Apply To apply or more details: https://www.lindenmi.us/job-posting-director-of-public-works-public-services-director |
