APWA Michigan Roads Scholar Program
The APWA Michigan Chapter is proud to announce the 2022 APWA Michigan Roads Scholar Program (MRSP) on October 24-28, 2022 at the Comfort Inn & Suites Conference Center in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan!
MRSP is designed to meet the training needs for frontline public works employees. This three-year (one week per year) program is designed to train in most aspects of municipal road right-of-way work tasks and is non-sequential so that one may start the three-year cycle at any time.
Offering a powerful collection of training sessions, this program is designed to bring your career to a new level of professionalism. Topics covered during the three years:
- OSHA 10-Hour Course
- Work Zone Safety
- Snow and Ice Control
- Flagger Certification
- Traffic Incident Management
- Equipment Operations and Safety
- Mutual Aid Disaster Training
- Plan Sets, Grade Setting, and GIS
- Accessibility Guidelines
- MUTCD/Signage Standards
- Pavement Management
- Tree Pruning/Chainsaw & Chipper Safety
- Driving/Trailer Safety
- Pesticide Use/Licensing
- Pipe Materials/Construction Techniques
- Trenching/Shoring
Make plans to join us October 24-28, 2022 in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan at the Comfort Inn & Suites Conference Center for this innovative comprehensive training program. Registration is $749 and includes classes, materials, breaks and the following meals. Breakfast on Tuesday through Friday; lunch on Tuesday through Thursday; dinner on Thursday.

We are accepting 40 first year registrants and welcome previous attendees, all must be registered by the October 7, 2022. Participants who successfully attend all three training years will be designated as an APWA Michigan Roads Scholar and will be recognized at Thursday’s evening picnic.
